Overnight Camps

A week in the Woods or A week on the coast!

Tucked away at the foot of the cascades, Camp Artemis and Camp Survive! (aka Olders) will be held at North of Lowell, on Oregon Trail Council land. This beautiful mixed forest of Doug-fir, red alder and big leaf maple hung with lichen, is also bordered by Little Fall Creek. Our secluded camp spot has open meadows for games, lots of shady tree-covered spots for meals, crafts and rest times, and plenty of forest to explore. All campers will sleep in 6-person wall tents, with a Junior Counselor as mentor and helper for each group. This rustic location offers campers the opportunity to practice the essential outdoor skill of hardiness – as there is no running water, no showering facilities, and porta-potties for bathrooms. We will spend the week learning to embrace the elements of nature! Bring clothes that can get dirty, plenty of sunscreen and bug repellant, and a sturdy sense of adventure.

Campers of Dune-geons & Dragons (aka Youngers) will journey out to Eel Creek Campground outside of Reedsport, OR.

To make things easier for families, all overnight campers will be dropped off at Mt Pisgah at 9am on Monday morning, as part of our usual day camp drop-off. Camp Artemis and Camp Survive! will be transported by van to the campsite, and at the end of the week families will get a glimpse of camp life when they come out to pick their campers up on Friday at 4pm.

Our Dune-geons and Dragons campers will be dropped off at Mt. Pisgah at 9am following usual day camp procedures and picked up  at the same spot Friday at 4pm.

Camp Survive!

You’ll learn to build a debris shelter, ration your food, and keep improving your situation until rescue arrives. Practice fire making and cooking, basic plant ID, food finding, and “Trash MacGyver-ing.” Coal burn your own bowl and spoon, and craft primitive hunting tools like a bow, trap, or atlatl. Prepare to leave camp with some epic stories!

  • In the afternoon you can follow your interests and choose from elective activities:

Get crafty with leather working, carving or fiber arts. Try on a new character in a role playing game complete with Greek goddesses. Connect to your inner botanist with plant walks and wildcrafting.

  • After dinner, you get to spend some quality time bonding with your Tent Group and preparing for the spectacular evening. As the sun sets, so begins everyone’s favorite part of camp – night activities. We love the darkness!
  • Practice your night vision on a short, guided hike through the dark woods. Learn stealth in the shadows with sneaky night games. Gather with the magic of campfire by singing songs and sharing laughter with friends.

Student Leadership Opportunities

Junior Counselors (JCs) are an integral part of the success of our overnight camp programs. The JC program is designed to give our more experienced students hands on leadership experience in mentoring younger campers. Junior Counselors will get a behind the scenes perspective on what it takes to run a summer camp, will support the activities being taught, and will have the opportunity to advance their own awareness and bushcraft skills.
